At MS Society SA & NT, our Neurological Nurses (NDIS registered) provide clinical care, education and support coordination for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neurological conditions in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

A neurological diagnosis can raise a lot of questions. Our Neurological Nurses (NDIS registered) are often your first point of contact after your neurologist. Our Nursing team provides holistic support, in-depth clinical knowledge and the care coordination you need to manage your condition with confidence. We're here to help you understand what a neurological condition means for you, navigate your treatment options and connect with the broader support available to you.

What to expect

When you connect with our Nursing team, they'll take the time to get to know you and understand your individual needs and goals. From there, they'll develop a care plan built around you, coordinating care across your wider healthcare team and connecting you with allied health services and other support where needed. 

You can access our Nursing services in the following ways: 
  • South Australia - in person at the Kilkenny Services Centre and via telehealth 
  • Northern Territory - via telehealth 
Our Nursing team is also available via our MS Assist line on 1800 812 311 during 8:30am - 5pm for questions, advice and support between appointments.

Continence, wound and clinical care

Our team provides support and clinical coordination across a range of care needs including continence management, catheter changes, enteral feeding care and wound care to ensure you receive consistent, high-quality clinical support.

Our Nurses can provide information and guidance on living well with a neurological condition, including positive lifestyle changes, nutrition, complementary therapies and exercise, to support your overall health and wellbeing. 

Referrals and care coordination

Our Nursing team has access to an extensive network of experienced healthcare professionals and can refer you to support services and allied health professionals including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, dietetics and counselling. We also liaise and provide support in specific clinic settings and act as a primary contact across the primary healthcare system and in community settings.

Our Nurses are experienced in conducting nursing assessments that support your NDIS funding applications and assisting with intervention summary reports to ensure you have the documentation you need to access the resources and support that can help you most.

Our Nurses will work with you to develop a plan that reflects your current needs and helps guide your ongoing care. 

Where can I access nursing services?

In South Australia, our Nursing services are available in person at the Kilkenny Services Centre and via telehealth. In the Northern Territory, services are currently available via telehealth only. Our Nurse Support Line is also available during business hours for advice and support between appointments. 

Are your Nurses registered with the NDIS?

Yes. Our Neurological Nurses are NDIS registered, meaning nursing services can be funded through your NDIS plan where nursing supports are included. 

Can nursing services support my NDIS application?

Yes. Our Nurses can conduct nursing assessments and prepare intervention summary reports to support your NDIS funding application, helping to build the case for the supports you need. 

Do I need a referral to access nursing services?

You don't need a referral to reach out to us. You will need to provide a letter of diagnosis or referral from your GP or Neurologist (dated within the last 12 months) as part of the registration process. If you're unsure what's required, just give us a call. We're happy to help. 

What is the MS Assist line?

Our MS Assist line is available during business hours for non-urgent questions, advice and support. It's a way to get guidance between appointments, whether you have questions about your condition, medications or care. Call the MS Assist line on 1800 812 311 or email msassist@mssant.org.au.
