We believe people living with MS and other neurological conditions should have the opportunity to pursue their goals and live life to the fullest.

The Life not Limits Grant in memory of Ros Harman supports people with neurological conditions to turn their aspirations into actions. Whether it's a passion project you want to pursue or an interest you have been following for some time, this Grant can help you take the next step.

For the first time, the Grant is open to people living with MS and other neurological conditions in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

With Grants up to $5,000 and five categories you can apply for – this is your chance to make your dream project a reality.

Application close 5.30pm (ACST) or 6.30pm (ACDT), Friday 13 November 2026.

Inspiring Bright Minds
Pursue personal growth and lifelong learning through courses, workshops, certifications, and mentoring – unlocking potential and building confidence for the future.

Creative Sparks
Exploring artistic passions such as photography, painting, music and writing as a pathway for self-expression.

Live Well (Health & Wellbeing)
Supporting physical, mental and emotional wellbeing through activities like sport, fitness programs, mindfulness workshops and therapy sessions.

Connect Communities
Supporting projects that foster social inclusion, strengthen relationships, and encourage meaningful contributions within local communities.

Sky’s the Limit 
For the bold, boundary-pushing ideas that don’t fit a specific category – celebrating innovation, ambition and the freedom to explore new possibilities.

Past recipients

Meet Grant recipient, Lauren Edwards who lives with MS. Dance has always been a big part of  her life, from when she first stepped foot on the dance floor at five years old to experiencing some of her first symptoms with MS. 

Now, with the support of the Grant, she has taken her passion to the next level by opening her own line dancing company Western Star Linedancing. Lauren hosts weekly classes with sessions ranging from absolute beginners to intermediates.

Who is Ros Harman?

Ros was a passionate writer, Chair of the MSWA Board and an advocate for people living with neurological conditions. 

Diagnosed with MS at 26 and MND in her later years, Ros wasn't one to sit back and let her diagnosis define her. She faced the many challenges that came with her condition with heart, humour and infectious positivity. Ros was an inspiration to our neuro community. Ros passed away in 2025 at 63 years old. We're so grateful to have her legacy live on through this Grant. 

Who is eligible for the Grant?

  • Be an active MS Society SA & NT Client living with a neurological condition. An Active Client is defined by anyone who currently receives services or engages with a facilitated program by MS Society SA & NT. 
  • Be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Reside in South Australia or Northern Territory. 
  • Propose a project, activity or initiative that supports personal interests, goals or aspirations - aligned with the theme Life, not limits. 

What kind of work is not eligible for this Grant?

The Life not Limits Grant will not award for disability support services or activities that should be funded by a disability support provider or the government.

What happens after I submit my application?

Applicants will receive an email confirming their submission. Apply application outcomes will be announced in January 2027.

How much money can I apply?

There are three Grant amounts you can apply for: $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000. 

Applicants must nominate one of the above Grant amounts in their application, based on the scope and scale of their proposed project. 

Partial funding may be awarded at the discretion of the selection panel.

How are applications assessed?

Applications are assessed by a selection panel of staff members and Client Committee members.

Can I submit multiple submissions?

Certainly! You may submit multiple applications, but only one application per category. Each project may be submitted under one category only.

What if my submission isn't successful?

We understand that not being selected can be disappointing, as only a limited number of Life not Limits Grants are available. 

We welcome you to submit again for our next round.
